HERNÁN MUÑOZ

Former Data Ecosystem Advisor

Economist of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), with postgraduate studies in Finance (UBA), MSc in Public Policy (University of San Andrés), and currently, PhD candidate at Sapienza University of Rome.

He has specialized in strategic planning, statistical capacity building and good practices. He was National Director of Planning, Institutional and International Relations of the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC) of Argentina from 2015 to 2019. Since 2020, he collaborates with Cepei as Data Ecosystems Advisor.

During his time at INDEC, he was a member of the UN High-Level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development from its creation, and co-chaired the Program Committee of the first World Data Forum. He was also part of the Friends of the Chair Group on the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics of the United Nations Statistical Commission. Previously, he worked as a professor and researcher at the University of Buenos Aires developing alternative sources for economic statistics. He was also a statistical and planning advisor for DANE in Colombia, IADB and FAO.
