UN World Data Forum 2021

The 2021 edition of the United Nations World Data Forum (UNWDF) will take place from October 3 to 6 in Bern, Switzerland. This is the third on-site Forum to be held on a global scale around the use and production of quality data to measure progress on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Forum brings together experts and data users, statisticians, governments, civil society, the private sector, philanthropy and the media, among other stakeholders, who seek to drive innovation in the use of data to strengthen the monitoring and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The agenda of this event includes different topics focused on the Cape Town Action Plan and the Dubai Declaration.

Cepei at the 2021 UN World Data Forum

This year, Cepei highlights the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships to reduce data gaps and promote the measurement and implementation of the 2030 Agenda. To this end, we will present success stories and lessons learned, that will allow us to join efforts around making visible the potential of administrative records for statistical purposes and the use of non-traditional sources of information, specifically telecommunications data, as an opportunity to close information gaps and meet the new demands for information to measure the Sustainable Development Goals.

According to Philipp Schönrock, Director of Cepei, “Building data partnerships with stakeholders is now a critical mission to influence decision making for sustainable development”. This, in order to close information gaps, strengthen the capacities of different actors regarding the production and use of data to leave no one behind.

Cepei will co-organize four sessions together with partners such as the Global Partnership (GPSDD), Tanzania Datalab, Telefonica Tech, DANE and the Swiss Federal Statistical Office:
