“About the UN General Assembly in New York, where various issues are being discussed around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Colombia still has some work to do in this area, since although progress is evident, it still lacks in the development of some of the goals.”

In an interview with Portafolio (Colombia), Javier Surasky, Cepei’s Research Director, spoke about the urgency of increasing financing to accelerate the SDGs and ensure the path to sustainable development by 2030. He also talked about the progress of the goals in the country. He emphasized that “among the most critical goals is SDG 10, on the reduction of inequalities, and SDG 2, which is based on eradicating hunger”.

Regarding the Voluntary National Reviews (VNR) submitted by Colombia in 2016, 2018, and 2021, Surasky said, “The last VNR was of medium-high quality, showing an improvement over its two predecessors by expanding information on the incorporation of the central elements of the 2030 Agenda”.
