P2P exchange on Water Information Systems: Mexico – Paraguay

On May 22, in the framework of the Data 4 Now initiative, Cepei organized this peer-to-peer exchange on Water Information Systems.

The virtual exchange featured presentations from representatives of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) and the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) of Mexico. Likewise, representatives of the General Directorate of Statistics, Surveys and Censuses (DGEEC) and the Directorate of Potable Water and Sanitation (DAPSAN) of Paraguay participated in the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to present Mexico’s experience in structuring and consolidating the country’s National Water Information System (SINA) through three elements: governance, indicator´s system and architecture.

Likewise, an attempt was made to identify elements, lessons learned, and good practices in the construction and implementation process of the Mexican Water Information System  that can be implemented or adapted to the Rural Water and Sanitation Information System (SIASAR) of Paraguay.

Finally, participants defined possible lines of joint work between the participating institutions to support / advise the consolidation process of SIASAR in Paraguay.
