Expert roundtables in Bogotá and Nairobi
This document presents key insights from two expert roundtables held in Bogotá (Colombia) and Nairobi (Kenya), convened in response to the growing financing crisis threatening the sustainability of data ecosystems for development. Through a multi-stakeholder dialogue—including representatives from the public and private sectors, civil society, academia, and corporate foundations—the paper examines the structural challenges facing data systems amid multiple financial, fiscal, and political crises. It argues for repositioning data as a digital public good and advancing toward more resilient models of cooperation, governance, and financing to ensure the continuity, quality, and effective use of data for sustainable development.
