In-Focus: Trust for the Americas’ Role Catalysing Public-Private Initiatives in the Caribbean

In 2022, Cepei, together with LIRNEasia and other research centers from the Global South, created the SDG Acceleration Roadmap initiative that aimed to map public-private data collaborations and their contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

From Cepei, we hope that, through this research, public-private data partnerships will improve their potential to respond to the global context.

This Case Study information on how the non-profit Trust for the Americas works to facilitate establishing public-private initiatives in the Caribbean focused on digital skills development, youth education and training, employability, and community development.

Governments in the region need to create opportunities for dialogue with the private sector and other key partners regarding their contributions to measuring, monitoring and achieving the SDGs.

Social capital and established relationships are powerful factors in private sector engagement and mobilizing initiatives.

To achieve a more enabling, scalable and self-sustaining data environment for development, it is necessary to define roles between actors and promote joint work between the private sector, the public sector and civil society.
