Vibeke Oestreich Nielsen is an Inter-Regional Adviser on Statistical Training and Capacity Building at the UN Statistics Division, a role she has had since September 2018. Before that, she worked with Statistics Norway at the Division for Development Cooperation. Vibeke has over 12 years of experience working on capacity development within statistics and currently coordinates several projects including the UNSD-FCDO project on SDG Monitoring, the Collaborative on use of administrative data for statistical purposes, the Data4Now project, and the Global Network of Institutes for Statistical Training. She is also a member of the Steering Committee of the Expert Group on Refugee and IDP Statistics. Her subject matter knowledge covers a wide array of topics including vital and health statistics, statistics on forced displacement as well as the use of administrative data, questionnaire design, data analysis, and user engagement. Vibeke holds a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Oslo.
