Cepei promotes sustainable development through 4 thematic areas.

Governance for Sustainable Development

We analyze the institutional architecture established at a local, national, regional and global level, to drive sustainable development and monitor progress made in that direction. We also study those interactions that allow the participation of different actors in those processes. Our actions are gathered around 4 core concepts:

  • Priorities in regards to the promotion of sustainable development
  • The institutional structure created to accomplish the commitments about sustainable development assumed by global agendas
  • An integrated approach that is both multi-stakeholder and participatory
  • Transparency and accountability

Data for Sustainable Development

In a time of data revolution, where the capacity to make the most of information is bigger than ever, we are looking at generating knowledge and offering tools that will help decision making processes based on evidence through 4 core concepts:

  • Capacity Building
  • Research
  • Open Data ecosystems strenghtening
  • Data analysis

Financing for Sustainable Development

There are global worries, agreements and priorities in regards to the financing for development, linked with the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals. Within those discussions about financing sustainable development, Cepei centers its attention on:

  • Implementation of international agreements for the finance of development.
  • The mobilization lines of domestic, public and private resources within countries
  • The continuity and change of international flows of economic resources to finance development, making particular emphasis in private flows, philanthropic contributions and impactful social investment

In order to achieve our institutional objectives, we generate tools and create knowledge for sustainable development stakeholders through four core concepts.

Information and Knowledge

Compilation, analysis and outreach of information based on evidence that contributes to make global processes on sustainable development better their quality.

Evaluation and Impact

Design, promotion and the launch of methodology that helps evaluate the reaction of global agendas on sustainable development in different scenarios.

Capacity Development

Creation of knowledge oriented to strengthening the skills and competences of different stakeholders for the implementation of policy and actions in support of sustainable development.

Research and Analysis

Creation of knowledge around governance, finance and data through research based on evidence and oriented to support decision making process meant to achieve the sustainable development goals.

Advocacy on Global Sustainable Development Agendas

The world faces challenges such as poverty, inequiality, climated chage and mass forced migration. Global development sustainable agendas express the effort to find paths, set shared goals and make universal commitments to improve the quality of life of all.

Nowadays in Latin America, sustainable development stakeholders have limited space for interaction and continued dialogue, since silos based work is still a trend within this line of work, both on the national and regional levels. Therefore, putting a multi-stakeholder approach into practice is not as simple as it may seem: the enabling environment can encourage an active involvement of non-state stakeholders including advocacy, accountability and transfer of knowledge.
