Cepei and the Global Partnership working to promote SDGs measurement in Latin America and the Caribbean 

In 2019 Cepei became a strategic ally for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD) to strengthen the presence of the Partnership in the region, promote SDGs measurement at the national level and foster the use of data through the implementation of working plans defined by each country.

The Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD) is a coalition of governments, multilateral organizations, civil society organizations and the private sector that seeks to promote better decisions and better lives for all by facilitating the production and use of better data through strategic alliances, advocacy, technical assistance and pilot initiatives.

In 2019 Cepei became a strategic ally of the Global Partnership, to strengthen its presence in Latin America and the Caribbean by promoting SDGs measurement at the national level and fostering the use of data through the implementation of country-driven working plans.

With the support of Cepei, working plans have been defined to strengthen data ecosystems, create cooperation partnerships at a global level and close information gaps for the SDG indicators in five Latin American and the Caribbean countries: Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Paraguay and the Dominican Republic.

For the second semester of 2019, Cepei will focus on supporting Costa Rica on administrative records; promoting a south-south cooperation agreement between Colombia and Costa Rica on methodologies to measure SDG indicators; and exploring the use of non-traditional data sources to reduce SDG data gaps in the LAC region. 

Cepei is an independent, non-profit, data driven think-tank, working through field based analysis, research projects and high-level advocacy to scale up and support the development community, to make a meaningful and sustained contribution to Sustainable Development.
